ACA Update #1

Good Morning!

We are so glad to see that others out there see the importance of Classical Christian Education!

According to Brian Daigle, there are three phases of starting a Classical Christian school:

  1. Gather Phase
  2. Launch Phase
  3. Fly Phase

While we will not provide the details of all of the phases here, it is safe to say we are currently in Gather Phase. We are striving to grow our team of core leaders, build partnerships with local churches, and educate prospective families about the importance of Classical Christian Education. We could really use your help during this phase!

First, we need to develop a core team of people committed to helping this school get off the ground. If you feel like God might be calling you to be a bigger part of this, please reach out to me so that we can meet for some coffee and to discuss this ministry.

Second, we need to spread the word to prospective families and continue to educate Christian parents about Ephesians 6:4 and the Biblical mandate for Christian education rooted in the paideia of the Lord. (Here is a great talk by Davies Owens that unpacks what all of that means if you need a refresher)

Third, we need to reach out to organizations that might want to partner with us. Local churches, homeschool associations, etc. If you know of an organization that would be interested in this mission, please send them our website.

Lastly, if you have not taken a look at the website in a while, please do so. Our prayer and research over the last few months have led to some organizational changes including grades offered, legal structure, cost, and the class schedule. Here is a brief outline of the changes:

  1. We planned on initially offering two grades only. However, Brian Daigle’s book, So You Want To Start A School, recounts how he and others founded Sequitur Classical Academy while initially offering grades 7-12 with only two teachers. They did this by embracing a university schedule, among other things. After researching their model and the university schedule, we feel this is the way to go. Thus…
  2. We have adopted a university schedule. According to Arizona law, this means we will not technically be a private school. We will be an educational institution that partners with parents who are homeschooling their children.
  3. We are still hammering out the cost per student, but we feel confident we can keep it to under $300 per month (12-month payment plan).

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please share this vision with those around you, and please pray about what your part in this endeavor might be.

God Bless,

ACA Initial Team
